Where AliExpress makes sense
It suits price-sensitive buyers who are willing to read specs, check seller ratings and accept that after-sales support will not feel like a local retailer. For a spare purifier, a desk unit or a first experiment, the savings can be real.
The plug problem
Singapore runs on 230 V with the UK-style three-pin Type G plug. Many listings ship with EU, US or AU plugs. Choose a listing that offers a UK or Singapore plug, or one that is powered by USB. Stacking cheap adapters on a machine that runs all night is not a great plan.
GST, delivery and timing
Depending on the seller and order, GST may already be in the price or added at checkout. The final total is the number that matters. The delivery estimate appears at checkout too. When PSI spikes, demand rises, so order before you need it.
Filters and spare parts
Before you buy the machine, check that replacement filters are sold, what they cost and how often the seller says to change them. A purifier you cannot refill is a short-term purchase.
Red flags in a listing
No CADR figure. No filter grade. "HEPA-type" without a class. Ozone or "active oxygen" boasts. "Medical grade" with no standard. A store that opened last month. Any one of these is a reason to look at another listing.
Returns and Buyer Protection
Read the seller's return terms and the Buyer Protection window shown on the order page. When the package arrives, open it, check the plug and run it straight away, so any problem shows up inside the dispute window.
When to buy locally instead
If you want local warranty support or a specific brand's service network, a local retailer is the safer route. AliExpress is for buyers who value price and are willing to do the homework. Start with what is hot in Singapore or how to choose a purifier.
